Service

As we are in a testing phase, we are currently not operational 24/7, mostly due to technological and weather restrictions. This means that sometimes we may not be able to fly at night or in inclement weather. Until we have the technology and relevant specific licences in place, we encourage our users to get in touch directly with emergency services first if our drones are not operational at the time of an incident. To track progress of the company, please check out the Roadmap, which gives an overview of our timelines looking ahead.

We do not save any of the recorded materials during the drone flight unless there is an incident reported and you request the video footage to be shared with police.

The drone does not begin filming until it is directly over the registered address for the alarm. As the drone is flying from its station to the requested location, the camera is not switched on and is not recording.

Our alarm response is what makes us different. Other alarm services do not provide almost-immediate on-site assistance, a human operator to talk to, and a direct line to the police, at an unbeatably low monthly subscription price.

We are authorised by the Civil Aviation Authority to fly Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (aka drones) in the current areas we cover (Isleworth / later, hyperlink Areas of Coverage page). We hope to expand in the UK over the course of the next few years.

We verify all the accounts we sign up. We never send a drone to an unregistered location. And our drones are always operated by a human pilot who will only operate the drone in search of an incident at the registered address that summoned the drone.

Whenever you call the police when there is an incident, you get put on a priority queue because the police has to allocate their limited resources. Due to high volume of false alarms, when the police receive a second, independently confirmed alarm for the same incident, they can verify that there is indeed an incident in progress, and will prioritise it higher in the queue. Comma will provide this second independent alarm and alert the police or emergency services on your behalf in the instance of an incident, confirmed when our drone captures visuals of an incident in progress. You can then choose to share the captured footage with the police.

Our drones will never be used for any action that is not directly authorised by the user. Users will not be able to call a drone to observe or surveil someone else or another person’s property. There are penalties for misuse of our service.

Drones

The DJI Inspire 2 records it’s home point coordinates so that in the unlikely loss of GPS signal, low battery, error, loss of transmission to the remote control, the drone will safely and autonomously enter the Return-To-Home mode and land safely at its departure point. Additionally, we are equipped with safety components such as a parachute that is licensed to ensure the safe landing of the drone should any components fail during flight.

We currently fly the DJI Inspire 2. We may fly different models in the future, or fly drones manufactured by our parent company, WECORP Industries.
